The number of people caught with cannabis in and around Swansea this year and how much it cost them

More than 30 people have been caught in possession of cannabis in the Swansea area so far this year.

They have all been prosecuted at Swansea Magistrates’ Court for offences that have taken place since the beginning of the year which saw them carrying quantities of the Class B drug.

They include a man who was found with 50g of cannabis on a road in Neath, as well as a man who was in possession of the drug at Morriston Hospital last month.

Many of the defendants received fines starting from £80 for their offences, while some were subjected to community orders that require them to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.

These are the defendants who have been prosecuted for being in possession of cannabis so far this year:

  • One man from Bridgend was caught with 50g of cannabis in Ynysymaerdy Road, in Neath, on February 6. The 29-year-old was fined £80.
  • A Swansea man, aged 20, was found with 12.4g of cannabis in Walter Road, Swansea, when police stopped him on March 30. He received a £160 fine.
  • A 36-year-old man from Swansea was found with 7g of cannabis in Swansea on June 24. He received a £120 fine as a result.
  • A 31-year-old man from Neath was found to be in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” at Morriston Hospital on June 12. He received an £80 fine.
  • A 31-year-old man from Swansea was stopped by police in Mount Pleasant with 4g of cannabis in his possession on January 6. He was fined £80.
  • A 32-year-old man from Swansea had 3.5g of cannabis when he was stopped by police in Swansea on May 18. He received an £80 fine.
  • One man from Neath Port Talbot was caught with 1.9g of cannabis in Neath on May 27. He received an £80 fine as a result.

  • A 22-year-old man from Milford Haven was found with 1g of cannabis in Milford Haven on April 22. He was fined £40 as a result.
  • One man from Neath, aged 45, was found to have 0.9g of cannabis in High Street, Neath, on May 18. He received a community order requiring him to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.
  • A 44-year-old man from Swansea was found with 0.3g of cannabis in Mansel Street on January 9. He was fined £166 as a result.
  • A woman from Swansea had “a quantity of cannabis” in her possession when stopped by police in St Thomas on April 13. The 35-year-old received an £80 fine.
  • A 23-year-old man from Swansea was fined £80 after being caught in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” in Swansea on February 8.
  • One woman from Port Talbot was stopped by police in Port Talbot with “a quantity of cannabis” in her possession on April 16. The 39-year-old was fined £80.
  • A 27-year-old man from Swansea was fined £80 after being found with “a quantity of cannabis” in Swansea on February 5.
  • A Swansea man, aged 31, was caught with “a quantity of cannabis” in Swansea on February 5. He was fined £80 as a result.
  • A 23-year-old man from Swansea was found with 1oz of cannabis when he was stopped by police in Swansea on May 18. He received an £80 fine.
  • One man from Swansea, aged 28, was fined £80 after he was found with “a quantity of cannabis” in the city on April 12.
  • A 32-year-old man from Swansea received an £80 fine for being in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” in Swansea on February 18.
  • A 33-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil was in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” at Tondu Railway Station, in Bridgend, on April 9. He was fined £80.
  • A Neath man, aged 37, was stopped by police in Swansea and had “a quantity of cannabis” in his possession on June 8. He received an £80 fine.
  • A 30-year-old man from Swansea was fined £184 after he was found with “a quantity of cannabis” at his home address on May 4.
  • A 24-year-old man from Swansea was found with “a quantity of cannabis” in Picton Lane, in Swansea, on February 27. He was fined £250.

  • A Neath woman, aged 36, was stopped by police and found with “a quantity of cannabis” in Neath Port Talbot on January 16. She was fined £80.
  • A 41-year-old woman from Swansea received a community order requiring her to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement after being found with “a quantity of cannabis” in Pentregethin Road, Swansea, on February 3.
  • A 38-year-old man from Baglan was caught with “a quantity of cannabis” in Alfred Street, in Neath, on April 22. He received a community order requiring him to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.
  • A 39-year-old man from Swansea was found to be in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” at his home address in Swansea on March 24. He received a community order requiring him to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.
  • One woman from Swansea, aged 38, was fined £80 after police found that she had “a quantity of cannabis” in Park Road, in Ynystawe, on January 10.
  • A 29-year-old man from Swansea was found to have “a quantity of cannabis” when police stopped him in Llandeilo on March 29. He received a £183 fine.
  • A Swansea man, aged 25, was in possession of “a quantity of cannabis” at Swansea Central police station on February 2. He was fined £40 as a result.
