North Wales is the most popular region for UK holidays this summer according to new research.
North Wales has topped Sykes Holiday Cottages’ biannual report of the top 10 most popular holiday regions for summer, knocking Devon and Cornwall off the top spot for the first time.
Their annual poll found that almost two thirds (62%) of British people planned to spend their main summer holiday in the UK this year, which had increased from 50% in 2019.

South Wales also came in as the eighth most popular holiday region, with favoured staycation locations including Gower Peninsula and Porthcawl among others.

When it comes to actual locations, Barmouth was named the third fastest growing and Menai Bridge/Porthaethwy the sixth.
Within Wales, the top three locations for summer holidays are Anglesey, Llandudno and Tenby, according to the Sykes’ report.

It is no wonder that Anglesey is coming into the hot seat with its unparalleled coastline views, wildlife and history. It was the sixth most trending isle in internet searches in July.
Set apart from the Welsh mainland by the Menai Strait, Anglesey is accessible via car, train, or you can even fly to Anglesey airport within an hour from Cardiff.
Dolphins, porpoises and even the odd whale can be sighted from the coastline with specialist dolphin tours for your delight.

The isle is also home to the famous 58 letter village name Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, the setting of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first home on the Bodorgan Estate while Prince William worked as a military pilot.
