Live updates as heavy traffic sees delays on multiple sections of the M4

Heavy traffic is queuing on the M4 as thousands hit the road ahead of the weekend.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix is showing delays on:

• The M4 eastbound between junction 29 (A48M interchange) at Cardiff and junction 26 (Malpas Road) at Newport
• M4 westbound between junction 23A (Magor Services) and Junction 23A (Newport/ Cwmbran) Coldra and junction 26 Malpas

• M4 eastbound between junction 46 (Clasemont Road, Llangyfelach ) and junction 43 ( Llandarcy ).

• M4 both directions between junction 42 (Swansea East/ Briton Ferry) and junction 38 (Margam)

After a week of hot weather, he Met Office has also now issued a weather warning for thunderstorms in large parts of Wales this weekend, with the forecast service predicting heavy rain and storms on Friday night and early on Saturday.
